Our story

We’re Eliska and Luisa Prochazkova, sisters, both doctors of Psychology, and therapists. As the co-founders of Neuro-ways, we thought it would be fun to share the story of how we became therapists.
People often ask us – as twins, do you do everything the same? The truth is, that our brains work very similarly. We are both passionate about helping others to improve their mental health. Still, how we got to the decision to open Neuro-ways is far from obvious.
We grew up in Prague (Czech Republic) and already during high school we both were fascinated by psychology. As identical twins, we have 100% the same genes, same family upbringing and we also seem to make very similar choices. As for most future therapists, our childhood was not easy and the ability to understand other’s thoughts and behaviors was not only an interest but a necessity. We completed a psychology degree in the UK, followed by Master’ degrees in Cognitive Neuroscience (Amsterdam) and Doctorate degrees in Cognitive Psychology at Leiden University. This is also why we love working with expats, as we know what it takes to relocate and start many times all over again. While our academic journeys seem to mirror each other, during those 15 years of education, our lives were far less intertwined – we lived in different cities, worked for different research labs and our psychology interests also diverged.
Luisa became a leading expert in the study of the unconscious mind. She researched how meditation, psychedelics and neuro-feedback can influence human well-being. Eliska became an expert on people’s emotions. In her research, she showed how stress response shapes peoples’ behavior and how negative emotions can spread within relationships, impacting each individual’s well-being.
One day, during our passionate scientific debate, a common question arrived – why more people do not know about this? We felt that all the information we learned over the years of our research could be very valuable for so many people. We were wondering what would happen if we integrated our research knowledge into therapy?
In 2023, we completed our training in schema therapy and co-funded Neuro-ways – as a space where psychotherapy and neuroscience could come together – offering a holistic approach to mental health. Through our experience working with clients, we observed that when people gain a deeper understanding of how their minds work, their mind becomes much more manageable and peaceful place to live.
Our service has now helped hundreds of people all around the world.
